This will be an interesting year for me, as my daughter will be going to full-day kindergarten this fall. I’ll have more spare time and picking up some more work hours later this year. I might be taking a different path, might stay the same path, I am not sure yet. But the opportunity is already opening up, I’m thrilled to find out what will happen along this journey. Girls Who Code’s mission is to close the gender gap in technology, and its goal to achieve gender parity in the subject of computer science by 2027. This organization is tackling the issue of the gender gap by solving problems in their communities and empowering their friends. it is a future of girls and women in the field of engineering and technology in the world.
Gilbert House Children’s Museum
Gilbert House is named after Salem, Oregon native A.C Gilbert, Olympic athlete and gold medalist, inventor, and entrepreneur. A.C Gilbert was an inventor of Erector Set, and the whole property of Gilbert House Children’s Museum is driven and designed by the concept of providing inventive and stimulating educational experience for children. The most importantly, this museum offers children to be inspired to learn through creative and fun play. They offer various coding after-school classes to older children.

Yes, it is the best time to spend your weekend morning for farmers market excursion. Various root vegetables are ready to harvest in my area; beets and carrots are particularly delicious around this time. So, I decided to whip up a quick and easy dip after came home with a huge pile of beets and carrots that I didn’t know what to do with, besides putting them in a salad.

In fact, spray paint and a few sparkles will do the magic, and turn them into unconventional and artistic Halloween pumpkins that are part of home decorations beyond Halloween season (yes, till Thanksgiving and even Christmas). For most of the houses, the kitchen is located at the heart of the house, where the family gathers till dinner rolls out, and guests hang out while appetizer lasts. I consider this space as the most vital part of the house, an essential part of the family’s daily life. Hence the reason why I spend all those time I have allowed to daydream about how I can remodel this space yet save some parts that are very unique and classic from the original house when it was built back in 80′s.

Fresh carrots are so sweet that kids can even dig in and enjoy snacking (and it’s much better than chocolate and cookies!), or we can make fresh carrot juice out of them. When you get a bunch of fresh carrots, you might notice that carrot top is coming with main parts. So, what do you do with carrot top? Well, for me, I turn all kinds of greens into pesto. And carrot top is no exception. Earthy and tangy carrot top is great for pesto, especially mixing it with almonds instead of traditional pine nuts. So here, I made carrot-top and almond pesto that goes with any kind of pasta and beyond. Just like a pesto, it’s super easy to make – just blend in all ingredients! Add more olive oil if you like loose texture, add more almonds if you like pesto to be more chunky. You can customize your own pesto all you want.
